The purpose of these ground rules is to promote a productive civic conversation.
Meetings will follow a written agenda that has been distributed and posted in advance whenever possible. The agenda should list the desired outcome/s of the meeting whenever possible.
Every agenda will include an opportunity to introduce new ideas, or at least to place discussion of new ideas on the agenda of a future meeting. The final item on the agenda will ordinarily be to set the agenda for the next meeting.
Meetings will end at the announced time, unless there is a consensus among those present to continue to achieve a desired outcome.
We will have refreshments at meetings. Everyone has a responsibility to contribute in some way to making this happen and to clean-up after meetings.
Everyone has a responsibility to listen actively and respectfully to what others have to say. There should be no side conversations.
Everyone will have an opportunity to speak after being recognized by the person presiding. Everyone who speaks has a responsibility to identify him or her self, to be respectful of others, to stay on the subject at hand, and to be as brief as possible.
Everyone has a responsibility to invite and encourage other members of the community to participate.
